Shiba Inu injured in a hit and run.

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Kerri Kowalski.

I came across a Facebook post of a Shiba Inu who had appeared to be hit by a car and tumbled down a steep hill, seemingly lost. After multiple people tried to find this sweet 2 year old gal and spent nearly 12 hours (if not more) searching through the wooded area, I ended up finding her after 10:30pm.
after walking around for 20 minutes I saw her tiny body laying against some fallen trees. She looked petrified and couldn’t move. She was alert and had eyes begging for help, I immediately gave her water and she drank the entire bowl. After some assistance, we made it up the hill and to the car. A very long night was spent at the Vet ER, it was determined she has a broken pelvis, broken in so so many places and needs need it pulled back down into place and multiple bones reset and possibly a plate in her hip. She has lost some feeling in her legs and paws, although that seemed to get better throughout the night, she is still unable to walk and having trouble with the feeling in the front legs. This is all fixable with the proper surgery and care.
Due to the fact that she is only 2 year old pup with no head trauma, I can’t bring myself to consider euthanizing with so much life ahead her without exhausting every option possible first.
The doctor has said the surgery is possible and she has a great chance of walking again with physical therapy rehabilitation afterwards. It’ll take a few months to heal afterwards, but in grand scheme, what’s a few months to a whole life of fetch and cuddles?

please consider donating what you can to help this gentle, sweet baby girl get the surgery she needs so she doesn’t have to cross the rainbow bridge this young.

She does have a chip and will be updating as any changes occur. The owner has been located via Pet Watch (the chip company), and surrendered/relinquished their rights to us for being able to take care of the medical bills. Due to non-disclosures, we are not allowed to know or contact the previous owner. I’m being a Good Samaritan and asking fellow dog and animal lovers to help support this because I cannot do this on my own and every animal deserves a better life and should never be left alone injured for dead.

For anyone looking to donate directly to Cheat Lake Animal Hospital, please call the number below and state that you would like to donate to “Athena” the Shiba Inu. Or use my name, they will take care of you from there.
