Shifflett family needs help

Hello, my name is brandan Shifflett, and I live with my mom and aunt. Its just cheaper this way. 4 to 5 months ago we got new owners to the apartment we live in. a few days later we got the rental increase that would start December 1st. On December 1st I looked on the rental portal and noticed the rent didn't change and there was some added fees. My aunt called and talked to the management company about all of this.

First, the notice was sent 60 days ago from December 1st, then on the phone the lady (Danielle) said the rent wont change till January 2024. That our rent for December will be the same as last month. She sat on the phone with her for 15 minutes making sure of everything she was saying. She had put me on hold several times to verify this information. So we paid bills that we were putting off. 4 days later, we looked on the portal and found it was the new rent. We called again and they said we owe the new rent and what Danielle said on the phone was a mistake. They would not honor what Danielle said on the phone. So we are now in a bind for the rent this month and next months.

Then last night (12/09/2023) my moms vehicle died. Our mechanic doesn't know why the engine is dead without taking it apart. We don't have the money for this or even to get a used vehicle. Her engine is toast. Three people are dependent on this vehicle. My aunt needs it for Dr appointments, and same for my mom.

My mom almost died this year, amazingly, she survived and is still working. But we have to be careful she doesn't get sick like she did before. She has some issue because of what she went through.
