On Sunday, April 23rd, Mizukami Shimasaki sustained a traumatic brain injury and was put on life support at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. He remained in a coma and on life support for four days. He was visited by over 60 people: grieving family, friends, and co-workers who hugged him, held his hand, prayed over his body, and said their goodbyes. After consulting with two neurologists, two neurosurgeons, and four trauma doctors, Mizukami's brain damage was deemed permanent and uncorrectable. He was taken off life support & passed away on Wednesday, April 26th. Mizukami leaves behind a large extended family, his loving wife Jessie, and two beautiful children: Takeo, 9 and Leah, 12. Mizukami was a dedicated & hardworking husband and father. He was also a beloved son, brother, cousin, and friend. Jessie and her children have a long, painful road ahead of them. The Shimasakis were a very close unit that valued their bond and the tradition of family. Mizukami has worked incredibly hard, building a good life for Jessie and her children. With his passing, the Shimasakis have not only lost an incredibly loving and devoted husband and father figure, they have lost their breadwinner and will need lots of assistance in the near future in order to manage memorial costs, medical bills, and life's daily expenses. Please consider donating to the Shimasaki family as they navigate through their tremendous grief and loss. Every donation no matter how small will help them bridge the difficult waters to their new life without Mizukami. A life they cannot imagine at this point - emotionally or financially. Let us ease their burden. Thank you all for your support.
