For over 20 years, "Magdalena" Christina Kadlec has been bringing light-hearted belly dance classes to the Omaha area. Patrons have discovered grace, strength, and stamina they didn't know they had prior. Let's not forget the lasting friendships forged in these weekly lessons!

The Shimmy Shack will be a body positive group exercise boutique and recreational dance studio. In addition to Christina's offerings (Belly Dance technique, Belly Dance fitness, and Zumba,*) it will be a venue for contract instructors of varying dance, fitness, and other movement adventures.  To follow the progress of this endeavor, join the Origin Story group on Facebook .

Some additional plans for use of the space include:

• EmpowHer Boutiques - To be held monthly or quarterly. These will be weekend pop-ups where women entrepreneurs can set up tables to reach new clients for their products and services.
• Sip & Shimmy Parties -Perfect for birthdays or bachelorettes, these 2-3 hour events will include a brief performance, simple choreography instruction, and a little something to sip.
• Small scale weekend workshops and costume/crafting circles.
• Performances, hafla parties, and theme events/classes. (Who wouldn't love a "Zumba Rave"?)

Christina is in negotiations on a retail location near 120th & Pacific Streets in Omaha. This bay is easily accessible from I-680, in a busy retail area with popular restaurants, and near an affluent residential community. Donations to this GoFundMe will assist with start up expenses, promotions, and provide a contingency fund for Shimmy Shack as it establishes clientele.  Christina will be reinvesting revenue from her classes as well as investing personal funds into the startup of the business.
