Naomi’s Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
It has always been easy for me to offer help to those in need, but now I find myself on the other side of the fence, struggling with the idea of asking for help for my family and myself. April 10, 2024, a day that changed my life forever. It started like any other day, getting my boys to school and work, but it ended with me waking up in the ICU, completely paralyzed from the shoulder down. I was diagnosed with a spinal cord infarction, a stroke in my neck. The doctors can tell me what happened, but not why or how long it will take for me to recover.

Thanks to the grace of God, I am no longer in the hospital. But even though I have regained the ability to walk and speak, I still struggle daily with basic tasks like getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, feeding myself and so much more. I am still dependent on others for almost everything. To lose a limb or experience paralysis is to truly understand the challenges I face every day. It is by the grace of God I have not lost my mind. I have made an attempt to see if there is any work I can do but I can't right now because my hands are not strong enough yet. It breaks my heart that I can't provide for my children as I used to.

I have received so much love, prayers, and offers of support from family and friends. But what keeps me up at night is the uncertainty of how I will provide for my children. My oldest is starting college, and my youngest is finishing his last 2 years in high school. Despite the challenges we face, they continue to strive for success, and it is still my responsibility to ensure they stay on track without worrying about the things they need.

I am grateful for all the love and prayers, but what I truly need now is financial support. I need help to send my children to school, pay the bills and even food so that I can focus on my recovery without worrying about our financial situation. I am thankful for all the support, big and small, and I look forward to celebrating God's favor on my life with all of you in the near future. I truly love you all.
