Shine with Jen and Collin
Jen (12th grader) and Collin (7th grader)’s mom, Hui (晖) Zhao passed away suddenly due to a brain aneurysm three days ago, Dec 8th. The grievance of the loss of a loving mom is insurmountable, the loss of the family’s only income is indescribably devastating. As Hui’s college alumni and friends, we would like to carry a mother’s love forward to her two young kids: Jennifer and Collin. This fund will be used to support their education. Your generosity will help Jennifer and Collin to overcome this heartbreaking situation and continue their education, and fully achieve their life potentials. We know Hui will smile when she sees Jen and Collin are moving forward, and you and we, together, can be there for the children when they need our support the most.
Note: Hui, 晖 in Chinese, means a ray of light. May Hui's unconditional love for her children continue to shine upon them.
Update, Dec 13th: it has truly been an amazing, grateful, and humbling experience ever since we started our campaign to raise funds for Jen and Collin 3 days ago. The outpouring of love and support from all of you has simply been overwhelming and heartwarming. You, collectively, have let the kids see sunlight despite this extraordinarily difficult circumstance.
Instead of stopping at our original target of $25K, we hope to up our effort significantly to an ambitious $100K goal. 100% of this campaign raise will go into a trust fund to help cover Jen's upcoming college education and help Collin finish his middle school and beyond.
Update, Dec 27th: this fundraiser is set up by Esther Ying Yang, on behalf of Hui's Peking University class 88 Biology classmates. The fund is raised for Jennifer and Collin Guo for their future education expenses. More specifically, separate 529 education accounts will be set up for Jennifer and Collin with them listed as the sole beneficiaries and all the funds raised through this campaign will subsequently be contributed to the two 529 accounts. Every step along the way, from planning this fundraiser until the campaign is completed, Esther has been and will continue to work with Jen, Collin, and their dad for their support and consent, and to keep them updated. Last but not least, they have agreed to let Esther manage this fundraiser and put the funds into the 529 accounts once the campaign is completed.
Thank you!
