Why I Created Luminous

Hi, I’m Nicolas. I’m 18 years old, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to build something bigger than myself—something that truly makes an impact.

At 12, I started working on my first clothing line, dreaming of creating something that people would wear with confidence and purpose. But my journey wasn’t easy.

I grew up in foster care, and I know what it’s like to feel alone—to wonder if anyone sees you or if your future holds anything better. That’s why I created Luminous—to spread light, empowerment, and encouragement to young people who may feel like they’re in the shadows.

Luminous is more than a brand. It’s proof that no matter where you come from, your future is yours to build.

A Brand With a Purpose

We believe everyone has a light inside them.

Think about the young cashier at 7-Eleven or the quiet worker at Safeway. You never know what they’re going through. They might feel invisible. They might feel like the world has given up on them.

Sometimes, all it takes is a smile, a kind word, or a simple ‘You are amazing’ to change someone’s day.

This is what Luminous stands for. Not just personal empowerment, but the belief that we can all be a beacon of hope for others.

Inspired by Matthew 5:16—"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."—Luminous is about uplifting, inspiring, and creating a legacy of hope.

Giving Back to Foster Youth

For many kids in the foster system, turning 18 isn’t a celebration—it’s a survival challenge.

Aging out means stepping into the world alone, often with no support, no roadmap, and no second chances.

I know that struggle firsthand.

That’s why Luminous is committed to giving back, helping foster youth transition into successful, independent futures through:

✅ Mentorship & Guidance – Connecting foster youth with role models who can help them navigate life, careers, and business.

✅ Workforce & Entrepreneurship Training – Giving young people the tools and resources to start a career or build their own business.

✅ Mental Health & Emotional Support – Partnering with organizations to provide safe spaces and mental wellness programs.

A portion of sales will go directly toward these initiatives, ensuring foster youth don’t have to fight their battles alone.
