Shipping some love & care to Seth Werner

Hello hello,
This handsome fella is our younger brother, Seth Werner.
Seth is a superfan of Philly sports, a lover of local music, and a proud member of NALC Keystone Branch 157. He’s also the best Christmas present we got in 1998 (and every year since!).
On September 16th, Seth found out he had a massive brain tumor after being rushed to the hospital for a seizure. One week later, he underwent a 13 hour surgery that was able to remove essentially all of it.
We are overjoyed, but not surprised, that Seth successfully pushed through this marathon of a procedure. Our brother may have a relaxed personality, but he is a hardcore dude! Plus, we knew that Seth was receiving care from leading experts of his condition. Big-up UPenn Neurosurgical Oncology!!
While his surgery was a major turning point, it is only the beginning of Seth’s, and his life partner Alli’s, journey back to normal. For the next few months, Seth will need to take a lengthy unpaid leave from work, and Alli will be primarily focused on taking care of him during his recovery.
As Seth moves forward, we are so thankful that he can count on the solidarity of his coworkers, our parent's health coverage, and Alli’s loving care. But even with these supports, we know there will be many curve balls, sliding scales, and stressors in the months ahead.
Very few of us are fully prepared for our lives to be turned upside down at any age, much less our mid twenties.
This fund is intended to serve as the emergency fund Seth and Alli never had the time to build up together.
When the current storm has passed, any remaining funds will be rolled into Seth's emergency fund for when this condition inevitably returns – and to UPenn’s research of IDH mutant gliomas.
While we inherently love Seth as our brother, what we love most about Seth is how his sense of camaraderie and selfless love does not end with us, but extends to everyone who crosses his path. From new friends, to neighbors, to a stranger on the bus. Seth’s not just our brother – he’s your brother too.
So whether it's through contributing, sending a thoughtful message, or centering a prayer/intentional thought – please consider taking a moment to reflect that brotherly love back at him.
Thank you,
Jake & Sophie
P.S.
If you are a USPS worker in DE-PA2 and would like to contribute some of your annual leave to help cover Seth’s time out of work, please reach out to the Keystone 157 Union Hall at [phone redacted].
