Shiraz Amal Asirvadam was truly a ray of light to all who met him. His constant sweet and happy demeanor ignited joy in everyone who witnessed his smile and enigmatic little personality. Wherever he went, he captivated everyone's attention with his singing, dancing, and funny made-up words. We all recognized he was a special baby boy, unlike any we have ever met, not just because he was ours! But sincerely, because of his special personality. His perpetual smile and happiness reflected the love that was showered on him from the day he was born by his amazing parents, Shant and Zehra, as well as both sets of grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family on both sides, as well as all the dear friends that met him.
The unimaginable happened when Shiraz passed away suddenly on April 15th, 2024, in a tragic accident for which none of us were prepared. In an instant, a dog attacked him at daycare and our precious boy was gone, returned to heaven, at only 15 months old, before he even started talking. His countless loved ones have been left with tremendous grief and an emptiness that can never be filled as we struggle to make sense of this cruel twist of fate.
Zehra and Shant welcomed a baby girl, Zaleh Laila, only three weeks earlier. They were so happy to have the complete family they had envisioned since they first met and started dating seven years ago. They even chose the name, Shiraz, when they were dating as a compromise to the "Sh" for Shant and a name that reflects Zehra's culture. They just bought a new house in an area with many young cousins nearby for Shiraz to grow up with.
Shant and Zehra have selflessly come to the aid of anyone who needs help, at the drop of a hat--ask anyone! It is in their nature and is only amplified as a couple. Theirs is a partnership of two ambitious, hardworking, compassionate, and loving people who deserve the world. They could have never predicted fate would be so harsh to all the love they give.
Instead of saving for Shiraz's future, they are now burdened with funeral costs and expenses to lay their precious firstborn son to rest, as well as care for a newborn baby girl.
Many of you have asked how you can help. We didn't have an answer at the time but helping with donations get them through this difficult time is one way that might ease the pain of moving forward.
Shant and Zehra are so, so grateful and touched by all the friends and family who have rushed to be by their side, some from across the world, during this monumentally difficult time. Helping in whatever you can so that this beautiful family may start to recover from the unimaginable is one way to support them. We thank you all for the love and kindness you have shown from the bottom of our hearts. <3
