Shirley King Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Shirley was recently hospitalized, and while in the hospital she contracted Covid-19. This led to further complications and she left us way too soon. With the help from a very kind nurse from the hospital, her children and grandchildren were able to see and speak with her briefly, via conference call. However, this is not the way anyone wants to say goodbye. We are incredibly heartbroken we could not physically be with her in her final moments. Due to these uncertain times her Memorial service will be postponed until this virus passes. We will have one as soon as we are able, and post an update here.
Thank you so much for any and all help towards her funeral, and memorial expenses. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Shirley King was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 29, 1945, and passed away on April 21, 2020.
Shirley graduated from Hiram College, and worked as a teacher for Geauga County school district and Auburn Career Center. She belonged to a variety of clubs ranging from theatre to sporting activities, among them was Newbury Kiwanis Club. Shirley was an active member of the following congregations: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in East Cleveland, Ohio; St. Hubert’s Episcopal Church in Kirtland Hills, Ohio; and St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Pensacola, Florida.
Shirley was very talented and creative. She worked as a DJ for 91.5 WKHR, performed as an actress at Karamu House Performing Arts Theatre and East Cleveland Theater, as well as many other theatre spaces. She enjoyed traveling across the country and overseas. She had a grand appreciation of literature. She was an avid reader and poet with an admirable love of Shakespeare. Shirley also enjoyed golf, bowling, Pittsburgh sports, sewing and loved various genres of music primarily country, pop, and oldies.
Shirley was incredibly loving, sweet, and kind with a good heart. She truly was an angel who walked among us. She was generous, very positive, optimistic, and had a “Cheshire Cat” smile that would brighten any room she entered. Shirley was an absolute treasure to her three kids and two grandchildren. She made a great impact that touched the lives of the many she encountered. Shirley will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew her.
We love you Mom
