Shirley's Sunshine (Shirley and Rich Lupkes )

Hi Everyone my name is Hannah ! My friend Sara and I are raising money for the Lupkes family. Many of you may know Shirley and Rich from their friendly faces around Rushmore , or you may have seen them when Rich was competing in Arm Wrestling bringing home many World Titles with Shirley by his side every step of the way. Together they both have given many weightlifting and conditioning lessons , until recently. This is why we as friends are reaching out.

It's been a very tough year. Over the last year Rich has had some struggles with post covid complications with his heart, struggles with his back and most recently a spill on the ice resulting in a hurt shoulder all of which have made working very difficult.

This isn't the worst, the year just keeps giving the bad, and they keep smiling and trucking on.

Shirley earlier last year went through surgery in July to remove a tumor that was cancerous. After a long recovery she went back to enjoying life and being everyone's sunshine around her. Until, recently Shirley was feeling fine. Lately it had become harder to walk and she was having some numbness in her leg. With the issues Shirley was having walking they decided to go back to the doctor. The doctor decided they needed to do MRI, the results were not what anyone would want to hear. Shirley has a tumor compressing her spine and a couple spots in her lungs. Shirley is currently in the hospital , as they decide the best treatment. They will be seeing if this is the same type of cancer as she had previously. The news is very fresh, but we know that the most humble people in the world will never ask for help . So let's take stress away where we can.

Shirley and Rich would give the shirt off their back to anyone. They are very private and were very hesitant to let us do this but we assured them there is so many people in their lives that want to help them. Not because they have to but because they want too. We ask if you have Venmo to use that because they do not take a small percentage like go fund me but each will help ! If you do not have Venmo please use this ! It's a great resource to help!!!

Shirley has told me recently that I'm the sunshine when in reality she is. She is the sunshine in everyone's life , even when it rains. And though life seems to be raining on the Lupkes, we can help to make the rainbow. Even the Lord said he won't let it rain forever !
