Shirts for Students 2021
Providing new uniform shirts for the students of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
I am Grant Cooper, a rising Jesuit Dallas Sophomore. I am an Eagle Scout in Troop 43. Last summer, I completed my Eagle Project, Shirts for Students, in which I provided each student at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Catholic School in Dallas, Texas with a new uniform shirt. I was also able to stock the OLPH supply closet with 100 additional shirts that were given to those in great financial need during the school year. OLPH is located near Love Field and 90% of the student body is near, or below, the poverty line. Many students cannot afford to purchase new uniforms, so they are often forced to wear hand-me-downs in poor condition. OLPH is a Title IX School that receives funding from the Catholic Diocese of Dallas. Shirts for Students had a significant impact on the OLPH school families due to the economic turbulence related to the COVID- 19 pandemic. NBC5 News interviewed me and covered the uniform shirt delivery. As a result of the publicity surrounding my project, OLPH received an additional monetary donation to help families hard hit by COVID-19. The new uniform shirts increased student’s self-esteem, confidence, and gave the students a sense of pride and belonging to their school community. This year I have decided to do what I can again for OLPH and I am asking your help to stock the OLPH uniform supply closet with new uniform shirts. Any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated. I am anticipating the cost per uniform shirt to be $20 each. The funds will go directly to OLPH and anything in excess of our goal will stay with OLPH for future uniform needs.
Thanks for your consideration,
Grant Cooper
