Rick Needs Our Help
Donation protected
Loving father, husband and amazing friend, Rick Murdaugh, was in a horrific car accident in the early morning of 10/14.
Rick was T-boned and remains in critical condition at UF Shands Jacksonville. Significant injuries were incurred during the accident, with a C4-C5 fracture with spinal cord involvement being the most severe.
He has been left paralyzed from the neck down, along with a pelvic and ulnar fracture, dislocated elbow and resolved internal bleeding. Rick developed a high fever of unknown origin, so further surgeries are on hold until additional testing provides answers to what is causing the infection. He remains intubated at this time. The doctors are not hopeful that he will regain any use of his limbs.
Rick, his wife India, and son Miller have been left grief-stricken, emotional and fearful of the unknown. The trajectory of their future is forever changed due to this tragedy. It has been heart-wrenching to witness our boisterous, fun-loving, larger-than-life friend and coworker endure this. He gave so much of his adult life caring for others during his nursing career. He taught many of us to become better nurses, as he was a wonderful example to follow.
As you are now aware, an injury to this extent results in paralysis from his shoulders down. Many people have asked how they can support India and Miller during this time. Anything that you can donate will be sincerely appreciated.
The road ahead looks overwhelmingly long with many financial and emotional hurdles to overcome. Our Baptist family is very strong and runs deep to support our members both past and present.
Please consider donating to support the Murdaugh family to relieve some of this burden. We appreciate any amount you can provide.
