SHOCKING FOLK - providing defibrillators to venues
Donation protected
A year ago I started Shocking Folk to raise cash to buy a portable defibrillator that will travel to all the Merry Hell gigs and festivals that I attend. Such was the response, I was able to buy 3 defibrillators, one which travels to gigs and festivals and two which have been passed to venues that host mainly folk gigs - THornton Hough Village Club on the wirrall and Biddulph Up in Arms will receive theirs next week (written on the 10th of November) - they run gigs ar 4 different venues, so the defib can be taken to each.
When I offered the defibs to venues and artists, I got more of a response than I expected, so I am now trying to raise more cash to buy some more defibrillators - I hope you can help!
It's now 21 years since I survived my first heart attack (there have been others) and since then, thanks to the skill and dedication of the NHS, I have been patched up and sent back out - I now have 8 stents, had a quadruple bypass and a few other scares along the way. The last time I was admitted to hospital, having had yet another heart attack in April 2023 every other person on the ward was only there because they had been shocked back using a quickly available defibrillator.
After my most recent set of stents in Junbe 2023, I did a short course on the use of CPR and defibrillators while I was helping run a festival, which is when the idea of Shocking Folk came to me, especially as I have been at two events in the past where people have suffered heart attacks - and thankfully survived - a defibrillator may help keep that 100% record.
I hope that you can help me raise the cash for something that may make a huge difference, not just to an individual, but also to those who are close to them.
Hopefully they will never be used - but they will be there if necessary and might just make the difference a person needs to give them a second chance.
Here's the song that Merry Hell did for me!! https://youtu.be/eRuIKmqaDfw?feature=shared
