Shoestring Climate Activist Needs Support

Deon Shekuza’s passionate climate advocacy has earned him a seat as youth representative for Namibia at the global climate summits. Including the most recent COP28 conference in Dubai. Living in an African country where youth unemployment hovers at 43%, nearly 3 times the global average, his participation in the last seven annual summits is a heroic accomplishment.
Deon’s energies are devoted full-time to his shoestring climate advocacy, making each annual trek to a far-flung global climate summit a miraculous adventure.
Two years ago, he co-founded the NGO Namibian Youth on Renewable Energy (NAYoRE), hoping to educate and inspire other Namibian youth for contributing to the country’s climate sustainability.
A recent cover story in the international edition of The Christian Science Monitor (Nov. 13, 2023). pegged Deon as a Climate Generation influencer, with a “gift of gab and hope that may determine the temperature of your world.”

Several readers were so touched by Deon's against-all-odds commitment on a meager shoestring budget, that they wanted to establish a fund-raiser to help support his work. Please join us in enabling Deon to continue his inspirational pursuit of solutions and remediation of the existential climate crisis!
