Shoot Again: A Campaign to Assist Jackbar NYC
Donazione protetta
My name is Jon Ehrlich, and I'm the owner of Jackbar in Brooklyn, NY. In 2013 I built this bar from my lifelong love of playing pinball and gathering with good friends. Much of the existing community began with us through my first business in NYC, Reciprocal Skateboards and Pinball. Reciprocal was open from 2008-2015 and was one of the first places in NYC to bring pinball back to life from its imminent demise as a past-time. Jackbar followed, and so did many of our friends and fans. I have had the good fortune and blessing of turning my passions into a business, and having so many amazing people grace my doorstep. This bar is my life.
Since the start of this pandemic, we were intent on weathering the financial blow of the shutdown on our own. We planned on waiting it out and emerging from it working harder than ever to make it feel like home to so many people. My pride wouldn't have it any other way. Well, 2 months have come and gone, and there's still no end in sight. We never could've foreseen it going as long as it has. Our backup operating capital is now officially depleted, but the expenses continue. As it stands, even if we we're allowed to re-open tomorrow, I personally won't see an income for at least 18-24 months. But I don't care. I just want Jackbar to go on. I want this to be more than a tale of woe I spend my life explaining to my newborn daughter, Molly, when she's old enough to understand.
Our only chance to still be here when this is over, is the generous and heartfelt donations from the people who love this bar as much as we do. So, if you've ever had the opportunity to spend time at our establishment, or just know of it and would like to see it here when we're allowed to re-open, please donate what you feel you can. I know this is a difficult time for everyone, not just us. So anything you give is enormously appreciated, and will not go unnoticed. And even if you can't, just wishing you could is a sign we're doing something right. All of the funds will go exclusively towards our future and past outstanding operating costs. The goal amount reflects 3 months non suspend-able operating expenses. Even though, it's looking as if this will last longer than that. However, this will allow us to keep the doors open as long as it takes to emerge from this global crisis, healthier, happier and stronger than ever before! Thank you all for letting us do what we love, with you.
