Shorba Bone Broth - Fire Recovery Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hey Shorba community of customers, friends and family,
My sister, Mithalee Rawat is the owner and founder of Shorba, a business that produces bone broth in Vancouver, BC since 2018.

On Saturday, March 25th, the commissary kitchen where she does all her production and uses for storing her business inventory was destroyed entirely by a fire that required 40 firefighters and numerous fire trucks to extinguish in the Downtown Eastside.
Unfortunately, everything was lost. After many years of operating a small, local food business with many setbacks as small businesses experience, this was unpredictable and has been extremely shocking. To further the stress, insurance doesn't cover loss of content by arson which is the suspected cause.
This means that she will need to raise funds not only to cover the cost of production property and inventory loss but the overall disruption to the business as a whole from outstanding order fulfillment to future orders.
Stores that stock the product won’t be able to continue ordering which will have a significant impact not only on sales but relationships that have taken years to establish. Additionally, with the upcoming CHFA (Canadian Health Food Association) trade show on April 1st and 2nd, where grocery buyers from across Canada come to learn about new products to stock in their stores, the urgency to get the business back to a stable and operational place is not only stressful but will not be possible without community support.
As her sister who has seen her build this business from scratch by making meaningful connections, sourcing high-quality ingredients and continuously educating herself to improve the health benefits of her product and now, finding the power to repair this damage is ultimately for her customers and the belief in a product that is much needed by people.
The funds will be used to find a new production kitchen, and purchase production cookware, freezers and inventory. This doesn’t cover all the costs of the loss of business orders/sales, but it’s a starting point to get Shorba back up and running.
Behind the scenes, she’s hopeful and keeping it moving, but it’s going to be a hard road to not only recover from this professionally but personally too.
I appreciate you reading this and any support that you can show her at this time will have a deep impact.
Thank You,
Natalee
