Short Film: WAKE

Donation protected
Hi all. My name is Leon French Wright. I’m an AD with Set PA and Office PA experience in the Film & Television industry in Northern Ireland for companies such as BBC, HBO & Universal Studios to name a few. My long term aim is to become an independent Writer & Director and I hope to kick start that part of my career with the Short Film; ‘Wake’!

About the film:
Wake is a short film that I wrote during my studies at university. I later came back to it and redrafted the script to what I hope will make a great introduction to my career as a Writer/Director.

Three word / sentence: Fear. Disturbed. Mental Health.
Logline: After committing murder and disposing of the evidence, Ellie seeks help in therapy following the tragic event in hope it destroys the sound, pain and fear she has since experienced!

Synopsis:
Ellie Callaghan has had her struggles, like many others. However, struggles aren't even close when it comes to describing what she's gone through. Wake follows the events that unfold in Ellie's life after she committed a murder. Hiding the body in a remote location, the victim, a mystery for another time. Following this tragic event, Ellie is in therapy which feels like a time loop. The same questions asked every session, the only defining clues are the clothes she wears. Although the current sessions aren't helping, we see as Ellie lives her day to day that something isn't right. That something is making her feel uncomfortable.

Ellie finds herself in isolated situations risking her own life, lashing out into thin air and not actively taking her meds. The mind is a powerful thing and her own...Let's say it has a mind of its own. Expressing signs of schizophrenia, Ellie is being haunted by a ghost. Her own demon. Standing up for herself in therapy Ellie is prescribed new medication. This however, does not mean all is well. Her mind has other ideas that bring her right to the wire. While Ellie still has a part of herself left, she goes back to where the body was hidden and has to make a choice. Toss the meds. Or. Toss the murder weapon!

The focus of this film is based around Schizophrenia and other elements of mental health. My end goal for this short is to put it through festivals in hope of getting my name out there more as well as to screen its premiere for Mental Health month in the new year.

What your donation will help with;
Any donations will be used to help fund this project and go towards covering our talented actors/crews travel, food, costumes, props, equipment rental and much more. In return for donating, you will get a special mention at the end of the film in the credits.

Any contributions that can be given towards this life long career goal of mine would be much appreciated. Even just sharing the link would mean as much!

Thank you,
Leon
