Short term help due to major surgery

My name is Joe, and I’ve been self employed for 30 years. I’ve always been self sufficient and don’t like asking for help generally. During the pandemic I had to close my carpet cleaning business and after a year of doing whatever was necessary to survive I landed a job with a large company and finally had benefits. It turns out just in time too because I had been suffering for years with excruciating pain from sciatica. I began going to physical therapy but the condition worsened. I started having numbness in my fingers and my hands, which I attributed to my diabetes since my sugar is still a bit high. The numbness began to spread to my legs, and my mid back and stomach as well. Then I began to have a hard time walking, my legs felt weak and like jelly. I fell a few times, and my sister insisted I go to an ER. I went and got an MRI and found out my condition was far worse than sciatica. I’ve got degenerative spinal disease in my neck, mid back and lumbar. I am scheduled for major surgery on my neck Nov 17th. If I don’t get this operation I will eventually become paralyzed. My walking has become much worse while I wait for surgery. I’m thankfully able to work from home which works out great. So why the Go Fund Me? My insurance will cover most of my medical expenses but because I’ve been with the company less than a year, I will not be able to collect disability while I’m out of work for 8 weeks or so. I absolutely hate asking for help, I don’t have a ton of bills But I’d like to keep up with my rent, and what bills I do have. So I thought I’d just put this out there to anyone that feels led to help. Asking for this help is the hardest thing for me as it’s not in my nature. I also don’t want anyone to feel obligated either, I’ve been in situations like this when I was self employed but always had the ability to go out and make the kind of money I needed to catch up fairly quickly, not so much when I work for an hourly wage!
