I own Campbell Boarding Kennels in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Not really sure why, but I decided to do a little ‘personal challenge’ to see if I could actually wear shorts all winter long.
After freezing for a couple of days, I started thinking about all of the dogs & cats that are outside in the cold...some with no food & no unfrozen water. I can go inside. I can eat. I have a warm bed. They are freezing. Unfortunately, around the country, some are dying.
It may not seem that difficult until you realize that I am outside all of the time...multiple times a day...many times up to an hour. I stand out with the dogs & haven’t gone in early once because of wearing shorts. The coldest so far...I’ve been out in - 4 degrees (actual temp) & - 14 degrees (wind chill). I was out in a snowstorm.
I decided to make my challenge a positive thing for 2 local shelters:
1. Knox County Humane Society.
2. Knox County Animal Shelter.
Each will receive half of the total donations.
Many clients have already seen me in shorts outside and asked why I was doing it. Now, I actually have a very good...and maybe not so crazy sounding...response, “To help the local shelters.”
The first $100 will be my donation. Please donate...any little bit helps. Please share...if you don’t wish to donate...maybe someone you know will wish to do so.
If you read this and do not wish to donate to my local shelters, please consider a donation to your local shelters. I know they could use the money too.
Thank you,
Jeff
