Shoshana's Dental Fund

If you have ever spoken with her for longer than 5 minutes, you no doubt remember our friend, Shoshana Hadassah Tompkins Puckett.
Shoshana has a very serious, great need.
Her teeth. While Shoshana was happy and smiled quite a lot when we first came to know her about five years ago, most of us noticed that she was admittedly insecure about her teeth. A couple months ago, Shoshana was complaining about her teeth, beyond being bullied… she was commenting on the pain, and that is rare. A dentist friend came to mind, and he agreed to provide a consultation.
Shoshana is terrified of dentists because of prior experiences, and while we knew the need was severe, that visit was heartbreaking for all of us. Dr. Poria confirmed, dental work has been done to her mouth that NEVER should have been done… Enamel damage due to braces that were never properly removed when her Medicaid expired, a root canal and extraction that wasn’t properly cared for, and other complications that make hers an especially difficult case to treat, including an allergy to fluoride.
Dental is not covered on her insurance, but thank God for the incredible generosity of Dr. Poria and Candace Rafiei of Distinct Dental! Shoshana needs over $18,000 worth of dental work (not even considering veneers… financially out of the question). Because of all trauma she has experienced, Dr. Poria wouldn’t even consider transferring her to a school or elsewhere. He is providing all dental work (5-7 visits needed) at a steep discount, and his labor will be free, reducing the amount to $9,600. Over the past month, money has been given to provide for Shoshana’s deep cleaning and extractions to remove her dead teeth and begin the healing process… Thank you, Lord!
That first visit alone was $2,300, it is now time to move forward. Infection out. Fillings, bone work and new teeth yet to come...
We are thanking and asking The Lord complete the work of giving Shoshana new teeth so she can walk the stage in confidence as she graduates from the Art Institute of Houston on December 17th.
