Show Big Love for Jim Kerr and Eddie

Hello, my name is Donna Hendrix Degen and I am asking for help for a dear friend, Jim Kerr, who has helped so many others in his lifetime.

Anybody who knows my friend Jim knows how much he cares for everyone, and that is no more evident than in the love he has for his longtime companion, Eddie Van Tailen. Eddie has been everything to him, faithfully providing love and companionship through some difficult paths over 14 years - Jim’s mother’s illness, with Jim as a caretaker; Jim’s own cancer journey; and getting back on his feet in the years following.

Unfortunately, Eddie has been in decline the last few years, and after a recent accident, his quality of life has unfortunately come into consideration. This could not come at a worse time for Jim, who has just been through a 5 week stretch battling flu and pneumonia. Between his illness and Eddie’s turn for the worse, Jim’s freelance design business schedule has been greatly impacted. After much consideration, it has been decided that Eddie is going to require an in-home euthanasia when that time comes. This is due to both his size, and the logistics of getting transported from where they live.

We do not know when this time will actually come - it could be a week from now, or it could be this weekend if things take a turn for the worse. Jim is going to need help with Eddie’s expenses, as well as making up some ground on living expenses from this recent stretch.
