Our great pal, bartender, and longtime member of the Marie’s Crisis family, Doug Thompson, is embarking on a new chapter. After 16 years behind the bar and nearly two decades in NYC, Doug is temporarily leaving the city and heading home to Houston to care for his mom, who has been battling Alzheimer’s. He’s making this move out of love and duty to his family, and while he hopes to return to NYC one day, for now, his focus will be on providing the support his folks need.

Doug has been a constant and treasured presence at Marie’s, making the bar feel like home for so many of us—whether we were longtime regulars, first-time visitors, or belligerent alcoholics. Now, it’s time for us to show him the same love and support.

This fundraiser will help Doug navigate this transition, covering moving expenses, living costs, and unforeseen financial burdens as he steps away from work to care for his family. Anyone who has met Doug knows that he is a giver—of laughter, warmth, friendship, and music. Let’s come together as a community to give back.
