Help Support Rebecca as She Walks Her Mother Home

Our dear friend Rebecca and her mother Pat are in need of some love and financial support during a deeply emotional and challenging time.

For the past two years, Rebecca has been her mother’s primary caregiver, supporting her through an intense cancer journey—all while raising her two boys. Her devotion has been unwavering. From managing doctor appointments to offering round-the-clock care and emotional support, Rebecca has given her all to ensure her mother feels loved, safe, and comforted. But this tireless care has come with a heavy financial burden.

Rebecca does not qualify for paid family medical leave, and her mother does not meet the criteria for paid in home care that could have helped alleviate the load. As a result, Rebecca has been navigating this journey with very little financial assistance, all while continuing to care for her children and hold her family together. During this emotionally intense journey she also had to leave her home of 10 plus years where she had been able to do work trade for rent, she now has the extra burden of paying rent and utilities while caregiving full time.

After a brief remission, her mother’s cancer has returned and metastasized to her lungs. Doctors have given a six-month prognosis—five of which have now passed. In this final chapter, Rebecca and her mom have been trying to make the most of each moment—handling end-of-life planning, making memories, and checking off meaningful items on their bucket list.

Now, their focus has shifted to peace, comfort, and simply being together as Rebecca helps walk her mother home.
