Show Support for the Case Family

Hello, we are Kevin and Anna Case. In September 2021, our world was flipped when Kevin was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma that had metastasized to various bones but most notably his femur and spine. What followed was a chaotic whirlwind of trips to Jacksonville, emergency surgeries, radiation, chemo, and all of the everyday life stuff that comes with four children, three dogs, school, and work. We are so grateful for the support of our friends and family, who helped us through the past year. We couldn't have made it without you and our amazing medical teams.

While Kevin is currently winning his battle with cancer, he is far from done. We have not been given a date when treatment will be finished. We very much long to ring that bell. We travel nearly three hours to and from Jacksonville from our home every three weeks, and Kevin takes oral chemo nightly. Both of these take such a toll on his body and our finances.

An additional cost of this journey has been Anna's mental health. In her effort to take care of everyone and complete her master's degree in marriage and family therapy as quickly as possible, Anna pushed herself to the brink. The day before Thanksgiving, Kevin had to take her to the ER for suicidal ideation and a severe headache. She was diagnosed with acute stress disorder but is struggling with depression as well. Her ability to function is so impaired that she is seeking a disability accommodation to pause her studies.

While we prefer to help others, we realize that we need financial help. While we are so grateful that throughout his journey, Kevin has been able to keep his job and insurance, the decrease in pay from the time he was on disability and the costs of the travel, co-pays, and other expenses have really made it impossible for us to continue without help. One of Anna's main stressors is worrying about being able to care for her family's needs. In January, all of our insurance deductibles will start back to zero, which is also when Anna has her first appointment with a psychiatrist.
