Show your love for Michael Gaynor and his family

Donation protected
On June 3, 2024, Michael Gaynor was admitted into the hospital. In the days that followed, he was diagnosed as stage 4 urothelial carcinoma. He began hospice treatment on July 30, 2024 and passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024 surrounded by his family.

This news has devastated the many people who love him. Humility is a word most cited when thinking of the Gaynors, so much so that few will know of the financial hardship that his passing will have on his family. Michael fervently loved and has left behind his wife, daughter, and grown twin sons born with cerebral palsy who require full-time care.

To call Michael “beloved” is an understatement. He was a proud graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, St. Joseph’s University, and Villanova University. He has been a pillar in the college admission community, especially in international recruitment. His impact has been far reaching and life changing for those blessed to know him.

Michael loyally served Villanova University for 42 years, including 24 as the Executive Director of Undergraduate Admission. Over that time, he touched the lives of tens of thousands of Villanovans with his kindness, compassion, advocacy, and thoughtfulness. He embodied Veritas, Unitas, and Caritas to all who have been honored to know him. To many, he is the definition of Villanova.

The Gaynors have not asked for this, but as their friends, we ask that you contribute a gift as a friend, colleague, or acquaintance who is grateful for how much Michael has given to others. These funds will greatly support the ongoing care for the family, especially for Nicholas and Christian.
