On Thursday evening (10/12) Nick Bundren was assaulted with a bat in the parking lot of Dollar General in his hometown of San Miguel where he was going to pick out matching Halloween pajamas for his family. He was hit in the back and then repeatedly in the head. He was rushed to Twin Cities Hospital and then transferred to the cardiovascular ICU unit for trauma care. He suffered a fractured skull, concussion, and internal bleeding.
He is currently still undergoing treatment and has stabilized, however, the full journey to his recovery is likely to be a long one. Due to the direct trauma to his ear and brain, we are already aware that he is suffering from hearing loss and visual complications. The full extent of the damage is still undetermined and will only be known with patience. His family anticipates it will take time to adjust to the changes and navigate his way towards finding his footing.
What I love about our community is that we always pull together and make sure our community members are taken care of. This is one of those times. Any support and effort you can give will help Nick and his family through the times ahead.
