Show up for Elle

This is a fundraiser for Elle Barbara as a gesture of support in a particularly trying time. While this pandemic has of course been a chaotic and difficult ongoing event for all of us, Elle has been dealing with the aftermath of traumatic events resulting from crisis intervention to significant loss and grief. The final push to make this GoFundMe as a friend of Elle's was the fact that she's slowly losing (and tired of fighting) an ongoing battle with her landlord who has been trying to evict her for years (classic Montreal renoviction scenario).
This fundraiser is not a charity; when transwomen, and specifically Black transwomen are faced with housing insecurity, it is on the community to extend support in all ways possible. This looks like: MONETARY $UPPORT, keeping Elle in mind if you plan on leaving your lease, sending her affordable housing options, etc.
The funds raised in this GoFundMe will be used by Elle for whatever she may need in the coming months; this can range from: money to pay the landlord in the event that she loses her case, help with legal fees / hiring lawyers for the ongoing case, money to help with her move, money to cover the inevitable rental increase if / when she is forced out of her rent controlled apartment, money towards her therapy, healing and reprieve, money to put towards a residency she is hoping to attend, money to put towards surgeries she has been saving up for, money to live as a person who is disproportionately affected by common grievances (such as eviction) as a Black transwoman.
Elle is a house mother, a community organizer, a frontline worker, (and so much more) and she is a dear friend to so many. If you know her at all, you are aware of her reluctance to accept help of any kind, however she humbly allowed me to create this GoFundMe, so please take this opportunity to directly support her by sending some money and sharing this in your circles.
