Help Jodie with metastatic cancer
Donation protected
At 38 Jodie was diagnosed with Breast cancer. She had a mastectomy, 6 months of chemo and radiation therapy. Jodie was in remission for 9 years. Unfortunately the cancer is back and this it saddens me to say that the cancer is now terminal. Metastatic breast cancer that has spread into Jodie’s lungs. There is no cure just treatment to prolong her life. The side effects from the treatment include nausea, fatigue, mouth ulcers, diarrhoea, low immune system which cause serious infections. She has had numerous hospital admissions due to these side effects. This makes it difficult for Jodie to get to Doctor’s appointments on public transport as she can't afford to buy a car. Jodie was employed as registered nurse working in the oncology ward, taking care of patients who are in the same position as herself, but due to the cancer she is unable to work. Jodie is struggling financially as she is a single mother. Her Disability pension just covers her rent. She is left with little or no money after paying her rent. Jodie has a 15 year old daughter currently in year 11 who goes without a lot of normal things that teenage girls have as her mum can't afford them at this time. Her school fees are expensive and Jodie struggles to pay them but she doesn't want to change her daughter's school just because her mum has cancer.
