Shu Min giving back to Mercy Palliative Care

Shu-Min Phung - A wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend was diagnosed with Sporadic CJD on 14 Oct 22. sCJD is a rapidly progressive disease that has no known cause but is believed to be the result of a spontaneous conformational change in the native prion protein.

It occurs at random in about 1 to 2 people per million of the population per year and accounts for 85%–90% of all cases of prion disease. sCJD mainly affects, people in the 50–70 year age group. The length of the illness can vary but sporadic CJD is often recognised for its rapid progression, with survival usually only 3–6 months, however, exceptions do occur in the age of onset, symptoms and the duration of illness.

Mum was always a generous soul, who loved to help and give back to those her community. AS such, we thought donating to Mercy Palliative Care would be in keeping with mum's spirit. The team from Mercy Palliative care were instrumental in caring for mum and supporting.

Mercy Palliative Care is a community-based palliative care service offering support in the North and West Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. We cover seven municipalities including: Brimbank, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Moonee Valley, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham.

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Mercy Palliative Care Limited and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
