Shuri Needs Dental Surgery

Shuri is a 7 year old cat and the light of my life.

A few weeks ago I began to notice she had a slight case of bad breath, then she was struggling to keep food down for a couple days; which from past experience meant she was likely having some dental problems. I took her to the vet and they confirmed my suspicions: tooth resorption. Having gone through this process before, it was no surprise that the best course of action would be to remove the tooth, and any others that might be causing her pain.

Shuri was diagnosed with FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) when she was a kitten, an infection that weakens her immune system and puts her at greater risk for gingivitis. This causes inflammation of the gum line, and more often than not in cats, leads to the tooth being reabsorbed into the gum itself. Unfortunately, due to Shuri's predisposition, this is something she will struggle with her entire life. But this doesn't mean she cannot live a long and fulfilling life. With the best care, many cats with FIV like Shuri can live just as long as cats without.

Having been through this process before, I knew how much to expect I would be paying for the procedure. Her initial blood work and exam, as well as the surgery deposit, came out to $511.26. The dental cleaning, extraction, x-rays, and medications for her procedure will range between $975.95 - $1,494.95, depending on how many affected teeth they find on her x-rays. I've attached both the bill for her initial visit, and the estimate for her procedure. 100% of the funds raised will go towards paying her medical bills. Her procedure is scheduled for Dec. 21st.

Shuri is a wonderful cat that has given me and every person she's met great joy. She's a gift that I cherish daily and I want her to live the happiest life I can give her.
