Fire Victim Fund for Family Shurish

Donation protected

Less than seven months ago Shurish and his family arrived from Afghanistan.  Shurish worked for the US army as a translator, side by side on many combat missions.  As a result, he was targeted by the Taliban for collaborating with the United States.  Leaving friends, family and most possesions behind, he arrived in 2017 with his wife and three children.  On January 26, his upstairs neighbor, also a refugee, ran downstairs screaming for help.  She told him her children were upstairs.  He ran upstairs into the burning apartment and saved the children.  Then the apartment burned and then flooded.  I recieved a text from another refugee family in the apartment building to see if I could help.  When I arrived, they were sitting outside their apartment with two bags and some red cross blankets.  I can not fathom losing everything twice.  This is a wonderful family who needs our support and help.  Every cent from this fund goes to this family to help them regain once again from tragedy.  Thank you for anything.  Edited to add:  I am so grateful to all of you for your generosity.  I posted a video of Shurish getting his check and his impassioned thank you to everyone! I am a vounteer here ins San Diego who free cycles for recent refugees to get them the items they need to start a new life here.  If you have any interest or gently used donation items, let me know!
