Shuvanon's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
Welcome to our page. Some of you may already know Shuvie and some may not… So I want to kick this page off by telling you all about this man and why he is so special.
Shuvanon is a 26 year old, Bangladeshi-American, with dreams of attending medical school and becoming a doctor. He is currently a master’s student (at Drexel University in Philadelphia) of interdisciplinary health sciences with a concentration in anatomy and physiology. What makes Shuvanon so special is his heart and how he’s able to make everyone feel more comfortable and accepted. I have never met someone that lights up every single room he walks into and brings so much love into his loved ones’ lives. Shuvie radiates this energy that is so infectious. When we first met, I was crying and practically inconsolable. Shuvanon approached me and started cracking jokes to get me to smile. We were complete strangers and he stepped in to help someone that was in need. Another story that comes to mind is one time we ran into a woman having a panic attack during a panicked crowd at the 4th of July. Shuvie was the first person to get down on the ground with her, take her hand, and do everything he could to calm her down. That is the kind of person he is. He isn't someone that will sit idly by and watch someone struggle on their own. Shuvie will always step up and be there for people, whether he knows them or not. He prioritizes making other people comfortable. He takes interest in people's stories and hobbies in order to understand them better and because he truly cares. He is the first person to comfort his friends when they're going through a hard time, or his family when they need help with something, or a stranger that doesn't know when they'll be able to eat next. Shuvie dreams of being able to travel the world and to be able to become a doctor so he can help others that may often feel overlooked by society. I could say a million things about Shuvanon and how amazing he is and it would never even feel like I'm scratching the surface. This man is truly a once-in-a-lifetime person and we are going to do everything we can to ensure he lives a full lifetime.
Earlier this month (February), Shuvanon was diagnosed with stage 4 Desmoplastic small round cell sarcoma (DSRCT). This type of cancer is an aggressive type of soft tissue sarcoma. This means that the cancer formed in the connective tissues of the body (fat, muscles, tendons, etc). DSRCT is an incredibly rare cancer (about 200 cases since it was discovered in 1989), however, it also means that there is much research being done to learn more about the causes and more effective treatment. There is currently no cure for this specific type of cancer, but we fully intend on fighting this with everything we have until we can get to a cure. With this being such an aggressive disease, we are being equally as aggressive with treatment. Shuvanon is currently undergoing chemotherapy and will eventually undergo multiple surgeries to remove any cancer left behind.
I know that this is scary news, but we are remaining hopeful that this treatment will be effective. We have had the honor of being surrounded by so many wonderful doctors, but also by the love of our friends and family throughout this difficult time. If you are able to, we would appreciate any donations and/or shares of our fundraiser.
The funds that will be generated from this gofundme will be used for Shuvanon’s treatment or any additional costs that may accrue from it.
We respect your privacy at this time, but if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them. Thank you so much.
All of my love,
Kaitlin
P.S. Please be sure to keep checking back as we will be posting updates to this page as he progresses on his treatment journey.
