Hi, I’m a 19 year old girl currently in need of an electric wheelchair.
I am in the process of getting diagnosed with fibromyalgia and cerebral palsy, and need to be in a wheelchair a lot of the time. My symptoms and pain levels were often overlooked over in childhood and dismissed due to other conditions. As I’ve gotten older they have become more and more debilitating and continue to worsen.
I have severely underdeveloped tendons, so walking and using my arms is extremely painful. At the moment I can’t really leave the house much due to the recovery time needed when doing a simple activity like walking to the shops.
I currently only have access to a push wheelchair which is unsuitable as a long term option due to needing to have someone accompany me to use it.
Unfortunately a wheel yourself chair wouldn’t be suitable either because of the pain and my lack of arm strength.
At the moment I can’t work because of this so don’t have the money to cover a wheelchair. If I could get access to one that would mean I could work and be so much more independent.
This would honestly be a lifeline to my independent living.
