Sidney Robertson, our Pharmacy Intern, and her preceptor Misty Blanchard, were in a snow mobile accident that left Sidney with serious medical injuries while on her pharmacy rotation in Alaska. Sadly her preceptor, Misty, did not survive the accident. Sidney is in her final year of pharmacy school, and is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2021. During her rotation at Chief Andrew Isaac Pharmacy, Sidney and Misty were both great assets to our COVID-19 village traveling team as we began to roll out the COVID-19 vaccines to rural communities in Interior Alaska. While our hearts are grieving for the loss of our pharmacy colleague, Misty, we remain very hopeful that Sidney will make a full recovery and go on to lead a productive and fruitful career as a pharmacist. Though Sidney has made incredible strides in her recovery process as she has recently been discharged, she still has a long journey of healing ahead of her. We are hoping that this GoFundMe will help offset some of the medical and travel expenses that her and her family has incurred during their stay in Alaska.
Below is Misty's final post from her Facebook page highlighting her village trip to Allakaket, Alaska to help deliver COVID-19 vaccinations. Misty had just taken over the preceptorship pharmacy program at Chief Andrew Isaac. Sidney was her first student, and Misty was very excited to host her and share her love for Alaskan adventure. Misty was an incredible pharmacist and teacher, and is sorely missed. All our love, CAIHC Pharmacy
