It is with deep sadness, my father, Greg (Sid) Hammond, passed away on April 5. He was recently admitted to the hospital with chest pains. Once at the hospital, doctors found numerous problems to address. He had a multitude of issues, making it extremely difficult to treat them all at once. He battled for the last month and a half but eventually was unable to continue his battle.
My father touched a lot of people over his years. He coached numerous sports teams in the downriver area, mainly at Huron and Flat Rock High Schools. If he wasn’t coaching, he was volunteering for the Huron Township Fire Department. Golf as we all know, was his favorite pass time. He enjoyed many hobbies but coaching was his all time love.
To all his former players, colleagues, coaches, friends, anyone who crossed pass with him, Big Red, Sid, Sidney, The Pirate, Vader, whatever nickname you had for him, he needs you now, something, anything will help. The funds will be going to the family to help cover funeral expenses.
On behalf of the Hammond family, Thank you, we deeply appreciate it.
