CLIMATE WORKSHOPS IN SCHOOLS IN FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE
.
We at Heal the Earth Now ॐ are fundraising to help Roseline Isata Mansaray and Fridays for Future Sierra Leone to conduct community-based sustainability projects in Sierra Leone while continuing to organise Fridays for Future protests for governments to do more to address the Climate Emergency and Mass Extinction Crisis.
These projects have already included beach clean ups to get rid of tonnes of plastics which threaten marine life, as well as tree-planting and family planning in a poor area of Freetown.
Roseline and Esther Yealie Camara, another Climate Activist in Sierra Leone, will begin a new series of delivering Climate Workshops in 50 schools around Freetown.
Esther is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Founder at Youth Initiative 4 Climate Action in Sierra Leone.
.
Roseline, Esther and team have and will continue to send out Media Releases to local TV, radio stations and newspapers (such as Freetown television, Africa young voice (AYV) Radio Maria , Culture Radio Sierra, and SLBC) to make beach cleanups, tree planting and School Climate Workshops as public as possible to raise eco-awareness in the community and inspire people to take more care to dispose of their rubbish more responsibly, to recycle where possible, to look to alternatives to cutting own trees and using wood for cooking, and to lobby their government to takes more measures to reduce emissions and prepare for more extreme weather events and other effects of the Climate Crisis.
.
This will also help raise eco-awareness more generally in Sierra Leone - concern about AGW/Climate Change, loss of forests and habitat, local endangered species, and so on.
.
