Kathy's Wish For Sight

I’ve spent my entire life knowing that, unlike other parents, I would never be able to see my children. This is because I’ve been blind since I was a child.

When I was pregnant, it became harder to accept that I wouldn’t be able to see my newborn son. It was difficult to know that although I could hold him, hear him, touch his little hands, and enjoy that new baby smell, I still wouldn’t be able to actually see him. 

Instead, my miracle happened.

A company called eSight let me borrow their electronic glasses near the end of my pregnancy so I’d be able to see my son when he was born. I can’t put into words everything I was feeling when I put on the glasses, held my baby, and could really see him. I was completely overwhelmed with love for this tiny person.

None of this would have been possible without my sister, Yvonne. She is also blind (as is my brother) from the same congenital condition that I have. She's worn eSight my two years and I've seen how it's changed her life. Yvonne is also the one that made sure that I got to see my son on the day he was born.
