Sign and Plaque for Lentine Soccer Field

At a recent Wilmington town meeting, it was unanimously voted to name the soccer field at the North Intermediate School, in memory of and in honor of Frank S. Lentine.
We are raising funds to erect a sign and plaque at the field. The total costs would approximately be $5,000 and any additional funds would go towards an educational scholarship in Frank’s name.
We the Committee to Honor Frank S. Lentine, are seeking your support through a monetary donation to help us honor Mr. Frank S. Lentine.
Frank S. Lentine, is the gentleman who created the Wilmington High School soccer program in 1964; that continues to this day. They played as a club team, then, in 1967 the Wilmington High School soccer team joined the Northern Soccer League. Frank Lentine was head coach of the soccer team until 1977. When he retired from his position as head coach, Frank held an impressive record of 81-12-15 and had won three league championships. He was inducted into the Wilmington High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Frank worked in the Wilmington Public School system for thirty-three years, as an Industrial Arts teacher. Later, he would come to work in the guidance department at the Wildwood Elementary School. Frank was not only a tremendous soccer coach, but more importantly a mentor who had a positive influence on many of the students of Wilmington. Whether through athletics or his work in the school system, those that came into contact with Frank were blessed to have him in their life.
