Join Hands To Save Lives FREE OXYGEN FOR ALL India
The devastation that the Covid-19 Pandemic has caused to humankind globally has been unprecedented. Governments of even the most developed countries had initially been completely blindsided in how to respond and indeed manage such a prolific spread of a virus that for many has been so deadly.
One year on, whilst some countries have managed to control it's spread, there are other countries, where the political, economic or the cultural climate has intensified the spread of the disease.
India is one of those countries who sadly is in the middle of a serious Covid crisis. The spread of the disease is almost out of control, the Indian health system is totally overwhelmed and is unable to manage the vast amounts of Covid victims that require medical treatment. The lack of oxygen equipment in particular has made global headlines and has prompted governments and charities to send aid to India to try to alleviate the desperate situation.
Sikh Aid International ( SAI ), a volunteer run, UK registered charity, guided by the principles of Sikhi, ( one of which is Seva - meaning service to humanity, regardless of colour, caste or creed), is collaborating with other trusted teams, to help us purchase medical equipment at cost price or less. We are then looking to deliver this equipment to locations in India, where trusted medical volunteers will receive and distribute these life-saving resources, to those who need them most.
PHASE 1:
SAI have procured several hundred Pulse Oximeters, 2 BiPAP Respiratory Machines, BP Monitors, Nebulisers and other medical equipment. We are also in the process of purchasing several Oxygen Concentrators, Oxygen Boosters, Rapid Antigen Test Kits, Nebuliser Machines, etc., to be delivered and distributed first and foremost to the following 4 locations in India:
Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi who have over 250 Covid-19 beds, offering free oxygen and medical treatment to ALL those in need.
Melghat Tribal Village Community, in Maharashtra.
Nahan town in Himachal Pradesh.
Kalgidhar Trust Baru Sahib Akal Charitable Hospital in Himachal Pradesh.
Generous donations of 200 Pulse Oximeters from Lyng Pharmacy, with the kind support of M & N Traders Ltd are to be flown out mid May from the Khalsa Aid depot in London. In Delhi, the team of doctors and sevadars from Gurdwara Nanaksar in Rajinder Nagar, are supporting us with distribution of medical equipment we’ve acquired.
We are in the process of obtaining Oxygen Concentrators and picking up 2 BiPAP Respiratory Machines which is a type of ventilator that assists breathing and will play an important part in saving lives at the hospital at Baru Sahib and at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj.
SAI are also collaborating closely with those charities that have first-hand evidence of where the medical resources are desperately needed. Mahan Trust is one of those charities who are supported by the UK based charity Small Steps. Here again, we are looking to purchase much needed medical supplies, for the Melghat village community who have been badly hit with the Covid-19 wave and have limited access to life-saving equipment.
Additionally, SAI will be providing Oxygen Boosters to the volunteers of the Akhand Keertani Jatha, to raise their immunity, so that they remain unaffected from the deadly virus, whilst they are tirelessly cremating vast numbers of unclaimed bodies of Covid-19 victims, gifting them final prayers with dignity.
We are grateful for the guidance and inspiration from the UK based charities Nishkam GNNSJ, Sangat Aid, One God One Family, Gurdwara Bebe Nanki Ji et al.
This Seva is an effort to join hands with people from ALL walks of life, as we stand for Sarbat Dha Bhalla (Wellbeing of all of Humanity). Every donation will help.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause. Every donation will help.
