Silly Sonny can beat the Big C

WHAT HAPPENED

A week ago Sonny was admitted to A&E with severe pain. In the process of the wonderful medical staff investigating the cause, they discovered a cancerous tumour.

In that moment, being told very matter-of-factly by the Urology Consultant what had been discovered, it's been a bloody helter-skelter since then and it has been incredibly challenging, physically and emotionally.

There has been a whirlwind series of appointments with fertility specialists, hormonal specialists and surgeons, all of whom have been incredibly professional.

The most immediate obstacle to tackle was emergency surgery. The procedure was successfully carried out on Friday 21st March. The recovery time from this operation is 4 - 6 weeks, during which time Sonny will be unable to work.

At a later date, some time in the coming few weeks, we will have the results from a CT scan which will determine whether further surgery or chemotherapy is needed. Fingers crossed it hasn't spread and the recovery journey will be straightforward!

WHAT WE NEED AND WHY

During the healing process, unfortunately Sonny is not entitled to paid sick leave from any of his jobs (0hr contracts get in the bin!) Therefore he has very little financial support in order to heal and get through this period. We do not yet know whether more serious treatment will be needed, or how long it will take Sonny to get healthy again.

We are asking for financial help towards;

FUNDS

With the economy & cost of living as unforgiving as they are at the moment, many folks are really hard up. Also, everyone is living their own complicated and difficult lives, and fighting their own difficult battles. So, if you can only chip in £2, 20p or even nothing at all, that is absolutely fine! Life is tough for everyone right now.

Lastly, once we have a clearer picture of how long a full recovery will take - if we are going to have excess funds leftover at the end, we will figure out a good cause for them to go, there is no shortage of worthy causes!
