Silver Lining Ceramics New Studio!
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Katie Marks. I am the artist behind Silver Lining Ceramics. Most of you will know me from my Instagram page @anotherseattleartist. I am creating this page to hopefully raise some money to set up a new studio!
A little about me!
I have been working in ceramics for a little over 10 years now. 8 years ago I traded a digital camera for my very own pottery wheel. I then taught myself how to throw by sitting on the floor of my studio apartment while watching YouTube videos. 2 years later I met my mentor Matthew Patton and worked with him for 4 years. During this time I was still making work in my tiny apartment and bringing it to his studio to fire. Eventually he let me rent a shelf and a corner in his studio. I continued to make work in his studio for another year this way. I then moved everything back to my apartment for 9 months and then moved into my current shared studio space. Long story short I have ALWAYS made my work in a very small space.
Now I have an opportunity to grow! A friend of mine is offering her garage for me to set up! In my current space I have about 5' x 12' to work in. This new space would be 5x that size! I cant even imagine what it would be like to have this much space to expand! I could hire a few more assistants and hopefully create a production line as well as continue making my functional sculptures. The money I am trying to raise would cover the cost of the kiln, the wiring for the kiln, materials, tables, shelves, etc...basically it would all be used to create a fun creative work space! Thank you for considering donating. Thank you for believing in me and my dream!
