Private Donations to Support Silversea Crew

The Silversea crew is the lifeblood of our cruising experiences.
We are a huge extended family with many of us sailing with Silversea for many years. 
Because unfortunately many of Silversea's loyal crew are out of work without a paycheck for several months and having to support their family we want to help them until we all sail again. Some of them have faced additional hardships with flooding in the Phillipines.

What is unique about our decision to organize this is that we are initially directing all donations to what we will refer to as the faceless crew. 
These are the crew members we never see. Crew members like dishwashers and people who make under $1000 per month and have worked no more than 4-months in 2020. Our goal is to provide each crew member with $250. The initial  group comprised over 200 crew members. we have expanded to a second group that earned between $4000-$5000 during this same period. This has now been expanded as we move up the payroll ladder to help more crew.

Although this is a completely private fund-raising effort which has not been requested or organized by the company, we couldn't have done this without the support of Silversea Cruises and the Royal Caribbean Group, and in particular, Fernando Barroso de Oliveira, Silversea's President’s Ambassador to the Venetian Society and Heidi Wenger, Silversea's Director Fleet HR and Crewing.   These individuals have committed to assist us in disbursing the funds raised to the crew.

We selected the GoFundMe platform as the most reliable and inexpensive.  They charge 2.9% and .30 for each transaction.

As we reach each milestone we will transfer the funds to each crew with the assistance of Silversea.  Our own in-house team has created a random number program wherein a unique number has been assigned to each of the crew in this initial eligible group and depending upon the timeline of the money raised we will attempt to distribute it fairly and at random as quickly as we can. Of course, the more money we raise, the more crew we can support. Every donation helps!

As we head into the holidays and with the ships out of regular operation help is needed.
