Sima’s funeral fundraiser.
I am regretfully doing this fundraiser for my sister sima, on behalf of my mum Pauline.
Sima life has unfortunately, prematurely ended. She was only 32 years old and the “baby” of Pauline’s four children.
So it is with great sadness, and a heavy heart, that I am trying to raise a little bit of money to help with the cost of her funeral, as she didn’t have anything set up of her own, and I will explain now how my mum doesnt have much spare money with the cost of living and all her extra mouths to feed. None of us do, hence this pledge, to show what will really make a difference to sima in remembrance of her, and my family.
My mother Pauline is left to bring up her three children, Charlie 14, hunter 4 and Lena 3. Pauline is an incredible women in her 60’s having to raise young children again by herself.
She is semi retired and suffers from some health problem that limit her ability to work full time, plus she also fosters my daughter sienna who is 14.
She has a lot of rent to pay for the bigger house she needed to accommodate all the kids, she also has my older girls living with her who are 20 and 18 years old. Still in education.
Sima has suffered from mental health problems over the last few years and also was trying to combat her alcohol addiction.
She suffered in silence a lot of the time, and struggled to get the help she needed so badly. Waiting lists, rehab, counselling, medication. Recovery steps, the police. Nothing ever really got sorted out for her as she was not the best at getting to appointments. Professionals never really pushed her, or chased up the reason behind this. I used my voice the most to raise my concerns about her but it seemed either no one listened or took me and my mum seriously enough.
In the end sima herself finally begged them to help her and the only way she knew how she could be helped, was to be sectioned as an inpatient. That was brave and bold of her to do that, as she has never pushed before for anything like this. That told me she really didn’t want to die yet, but that service, told her to go and have a drink or she will die from alcohol withdrawal, and turned her away.
She couldn’t cope any more with withdrawal from reducing alcohol herself, or rejection from services, despite three other serious failed attempts on her life.
So instead of flowers, all we are asking for is a small donation of what the flowers would have cost, to help pay for her funeral instead. We have decided to go for cremation. That way we can choose to put some of her ashes in glass, so that we can always keep a small piece of her with us at all times.
We understand that we all struggle with finances, so we just want to reassure you that even a £1 would be amazing, if you can’t afford anything that is also understandable.
I just want to try lighten the load of what my mum is going through. What we are all going through.
Sima deserves a nice send off, as she was failed by all services I don’t want to fail at giving her the send off she should have.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
