Help Simone Fight Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jamie and Simone is an absolute cherished friend of mine, she is the best hearted and toughest person I know. Which is why I have created this fundraiser to help her on her journey through beating breast cancer.
October 18, 2022 Simone was diagnosed with breast cancer consisting of two different tumors localized to one breast, one triple negative only responsive to chemo due to the type and one that will respond to oral medication. The process is lengthy and expensive so any funds will go to aid future medications and procedures as well as helping with the bills coming in now from the start of this journey.
Previous to diagnosis she had an ultrasound and mammogram but the results were inconclusive so a biopsy was ordered which confirmed it was cancerous.
Since diagnosis she has had multiple doctor appointments and testing that included an MRI to asses the location of cancer and a follow up with a surgical oncologist and medical oncologist to tackle a game plan. The first course of action was to asses the areas affected, which meant she had to do a PET scan.. it thankfully showed the cancer is localized to the breast.
Simone will have to start Chemotherapy mid November to shrink the tumor down to a manageable size to surgically remove it. She recently underwent surgery November 1st to place a port to administer the chemo. Chemotherapy has many possible side effects, one being infertility so per recommendation by her medical oncologist she has decided to freeze her eggs which is very costly and not covered by insurance but has received a small sum to help with costs by the Livestrong Foundation but the process is extremely expensive.
At diagnosis she was told this process will take about 10 months. This will include her chemotherapy, followed by surgery, then she can begin radiation treatments to make sure every last cancerous cell is gone that the chemo and surgery possibly did not take care of, and finally for the next 5 to 10 years after removal of the cancer she will be on medications to help keep it from returning. She has already lost count of how many doctor appointment copays she has made and there’s many more to come.
Moving forward I will update how Simone is doing and if any plan of action changes. I, and most importantly simone and her family, would greatly appreciate any help financially so she can blast this cancer away and be relieved of any added stress that medical bills can bring on! Especially being a new homeowner and starting that journey at the same time as this diagnosis.
*update* May 2, 2023
Simone had her FINAL chemo treatment and have been plowing throw each with impeccable strength. She has a month til her double mastectomy surgery followed by 6 weeks of radiation and then it’s medication for the next 5 years. So not done yet, but through possibly the toughest part of the journey!
