Simon's Ironman Tallinn Fundraiser!
In November 2022, my life changed completely. I spent 7 days in the ICU of Bristol Royal Infirmary from myocarditis and pericarditis - they told me that the damage done to my heart was that of a moderate heart attack, something which at the age of 19, destroyed me.
Going from playing sport everyday for years, to none at all for 6 months showed me the impact it has in my life, and the importance of sport to mental health. I have chosen to take on the behemoth goal of completing a full Ironman - 4.9km swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km (a marathon) within the strict cutoff times.
The charity I chose for this goal is the Bristol City Robins Foundation. I have worked with the Foundation for quite some time now, and have seen the importance of their work, as they utilise sport as a tool for social change, offering programmes and opportunities to support and empower underprivileged individuals in the most deprived areas of the community.
Thank you taking the time to read my story - wish me luck!
