Single mom and college student long term illness

Hi friend,

As a person who is always on the go, when I got long haul covid in December of 2021, it rocked my world. My recovery wasn’t ideal. I was only ever back to about 60% of my energy and have coughed and learned how to navigate life with constant brain fog and exhaustion.

I’m a senior in college. This was a huge undertaking for me considering I am a single mom and went back to college at 38 years old once my youngest daughter was in school.

During the first week of August, I came down with bronchitis and a sinus infection. The medicine from that gave me a terrible intestinal infection (c-diff) that has had me in the ER 3 different times in the last 2 months. This infection forced me into isolation away from humans and I didn’t eat for over a week. I couldn’t function at all for nearly 2 weeks with the c-diff.

The day I got out of isolation, my daughter brought covid home from school. We both got sick again. Nursing a sick 6 year old when you’ve already been sick for a month is super hard. She got better and I stayed sick from covid for another 2 weeks. This is very similar to what happened the first time I had the virus.

While recovering from covid, the c-diff returned. This infection is highly contagious and debilitating. I’m currently battling it. I am hopefully that my 3rd round of antibiotics will help to heal me from this infection.

However, I’ve been put in a terrible position due to all of these illnesses. I’ve not been able to work in 9 weeks. I’m extremely behind on my school work and am working as hard as I can to catch up. I don’t have health insurance. So, I owe the hospital multiple thousands of dollars and my bills are starting to get behind. I’ve exhausted every bit of money I had available to me.

Any help received will go towards keeping a roof over our heads first and once all of my bills are current, medical bills.

As a person who would give someone who is in need my last dime, getting to the point of asking for and accepting help is very humbling for me. I know everyone needs help from time to time and it has always been my greatest joy to help others in need.

In closing, I know that inflation has impacted so many this year and not everyone is able to help by contributing to my financial needs. Sharing our story and link would be super helpful so others who are able to help can hear our story. I appreciate every single person who is able to help by sharing in whatever way you are able. My daughter and I can’t thank you enough.
