Single Mom get into a safe home

Hi, my name is Jenni Limbach. I met this single mom and her son about a year ago now. They have struggled staying afloat between car repairs for the only car she could pay cash for when her step dad died and her sons Sickle Cell medical expenses.

They are currently staying with an old family friend that treats them like trash. She won’t say anything because she’s grateful to have a roof over her head. He padlocks the door with 3 locks that she does not have a key to (so they either have to be locked in or out), they can only use the stove twice per week, they can only take 2 showers a week and have to be kept at 20 minutes between the 2 of them, there’s no air in the house, and the worst part - he turns off the water to the toilet so they can’t flush. He will turn the water on twice a week and use the coffee can in the sink to flush the waste. Disgusting. She’s also not allowed to take her mattress to their room because the guy “doesn’t want them to get comfortable and that’s motivation to get out”. They have already been in 2 different homeless shelters where she got jumped and their stuff got stolen. She knew she had to get out before her or her son got seriously hurt. So this is the better option for now.

Her son is so sweet and loves when my son and I visit to bring them groceries.

Well, I was hoping to help her on a bigger scale and need your help. She has reached out to a place to help with emergency housing but there are waitlists everywhere. So, I’d love to raise enough money for a deposit and first months rent for a place for them and my bigger goal - to buy a car for her that doesn’t need repairs every week, put a tank of gas in it, pay for the plates for it, and possibly a year of insurance on it. She NEEDS this to get and keep a job and my co workers and I are going to help with her son after school so she doesn’t have to pay for daycare until she gets on her feet.

I’ve seen the power of social media and how much large groups of people can have a bigger impact so I’m creating this to hopefully help give her a hand up and out of this situation.
