Single mom of 6 & victim of police brutality

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, after all of these visible police brutality incidents in the media, it has hit home.  My Goddaughter Candace is a single mother of 6, ages 2-13, and a full-time student studying to become a nurse.  On May 19th, she and my other children traveled to Oklahoma due to a family emergency to visit my sick mother who had just been transported to the hospital and was checked into ICU and placed on the COVID–19 floor.  Not only were we scared to death of my mother’s outcome we were also stretched to tend to my goddaughter in an ambulance due to police brutality.  I don’t want to share too many details because this is a real case going on.  Here are some of the reasons why I’m posting this Go-Fund Me.  My children checked into the Spring Hill Suites Marriott Hotel in Del City, Oklahoma.  Due to the pandemic, there were not many families staying in the hotel.  After a full day of standing outside the hospital and meeting with other family members – I was able to stay at the hospital and my children and grandchildren arrived back to the hotel late and was concerned about their grandmother that remained in the hospital.  They were inside their hotel room when the attendant knocked on the door to say that they were too loud.  Out of respect to the hotel and possible other families in the hotel, they decided to go outside to the patio to not bother anyone that could have been sleeping.  Immediately they went outside.  Shortly thereafter, Del City Police arrived.  Once the police were on the scene they began to leave the first-floor patio and go to their rooms.  The moment, Candace knocked on her sister’s hotel room door, she was brutally assaulted by a Del City police officer who was there responding to a loud noise complaint.  Candace and her children were checked-in as a resident in this hotel.  They were inside the hotel and remained on the grounds of the hotel.  Although, to support/cover the actions of the officer, he placed bogus charges on Candace, such as; public intoxication and obstruction.  Candace sustain traumatic injuries from bruises all on her body, a comminuted tibial plateau and tibial fractured, possible surgical repair after swelling goes down, all ligaments PCL, MCL, and LCL sprained and partially torn meniscus, resulting pain and injuries has caused headaches, PTSD and more complicated details.  Since the incident Candace have been confined to a wheelchair and not able to give proper care or provide adequate food and care for her 6 children.  She is now struggling more so than she was as just being a student trying to make life better for herself and her children.  Now she has to come up with money to pay attorney fees to fight the bogus charges filed against her with the City of Del City.  Her condition is slowly starting to get somewhat better.  However, it has been three months exactly and she still cannot walk on her leg.  She is now beginning to interchange with crutches; however, she is still not able to work or make end meet for her children and household.  She needs your help.

Due to her injuries, she failed her summer courses.  Failing, was a wasted Pell Grant semester.  She will be repeating those failed courses in the fall of 2020. I am asking for help to pay her attorney fees, travel and hotel stay for court dates, help with bills, food, and help with school.

Thank you in advance for any support you can give.
