Single mother of child with autism needs help
Donation protected
Hi, What do you do when your son approaches you with the kindest heart, worrying about his friend who is a single mom with two kids: a 2 year old and a disabled 6 year old who we just found out may be tossed out into the street- as the mom is no longer able to pay rent? The picture here is of this mom's hand. We hired her to help us clean out our garage for a garage sale after my brother passed away. She proudly held the bowls so I could take a picture for the garage sale flyers. She carried heavy boxes, cleaned mouse poop in the hot summer heat. Her 6 year old has severe autism and cannot speak, with little to no receptive language. The mom was grateful for the work. But of course its not enough money to help her son, let alone fund even the basic necessities both kids and her need like food or rent. She tries to get work but at every job the pay she is eligible for is often less than her childcare costs. So she makes nothing. In the meantime her son needs therapies that she can never afford. There are lawyers that help kids like hers get services but she can't afford their help: she could never pay them. Her son will never say "mom", is unable to look at her or make any eye contact like most kids on the Autism spectrum can't. And now to top it all off she is unable to stay in her home as she can't make rent. It has gotten that bad for her. If in a fact we can help her with her rent she can stay here. With money to pay for childcare then she can work. And with a boost like that, a short term leg up, staying here, in the bay area will eventually allow her to pursue the services her disabled boy desperately needs. Of course at this juncture it will help them not be tossed out into the street. But If we can get her back on her feet, help her with rent and/or help her with childcare so she can work, she can stay here, not become homeless and instead be able to eventually pursue the amazing therapies we have in California for children on the autism spectrum. For now though she has nothing. And on top of nothing we just found out she will be tossed out into the street with no place to live. I'm asking, on behalf of my son who cares for her deeply, to donate whatever you can to help her with rent to help her and her babies get back on their feet. Who knows- ur donation today may be a part of what helps her little boy learn to talk tomorrow. Because any donation, no matter how small adds up and can be used for rent.....and rent means they can stay here.....and staying here means she can eventually get her baby the help he needs. So....let's give this mama and her babies a "leg up" now and maybe one day they'll all be climbing high on their own!! And in the meantime have a roof over their heads. Thank you so much for reading and anything you can donate is greatly appreciated.
